Insanity & AWARENESS

My college volleyball coach used to always remind us that “the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting different results”.  No one wants to consider themselves as insane 🙂 but it’s a definition that inspires introspection.

We are currently in Week #2 of 6 Weeks to Vitality – Move Together Yoga’s online Yoga and Breathwork Course. This week our practice is centered around awareness. I think being “aware” and being “mindful” are often referred to in a very ethereal tone.  I don’t mean to bring harshness to them, but taking the seat of the observer – it’s not easy.  We may find that there are things we like and a handful of things we don’t like.  But it’s important to notice.

So as we stand in the reflection of our own life, I ask each one of us – are you insane? 🙂 Have you been doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? – in relationships? In your physical health? In your emotional health? In your career?

To be aware is to NOT be unconscious of our habits, our attitudes, our beliefs and our actions.  We can learn the tools to facilitate awareness, but the only person in a position to practice your own awareness is YOU.

Let’s Move Together!
